When your artwork is in Atelier 4's care, loss protection coverage is available as an extension of our own fine art policy. This is not a separate insurance policy — it is declared-value coverage that applies while your property is in our custody, during the specific activities you select. Each work is insured individually. Coverage is placed before work begins, not after.

Request before work begins
Loss protection must be requested, confirmed, and placed before Atelier 4 takes possession of your work. Coverage cannot be added retroactively after a project has started.

Declare the value of each work
Coverage is based on your client-declared value for each individual work. Block coverage across multiple works is not available.

All-Risk requires a Visual Inspection Report
All-Risk coverage requires a Visual Inspection Report (VIR) from Atelier 4 prior to taking possession of the work. Confirmation of the VIR by A4 is also required upon release of the property. An additional fee applies for the VIR.

Same-day confirmation in most situations
Coverage confirmation is typically available same-day. For urgent projects, contact our team early — coverage must be confirmed before Atelier 4 takes possession of the work.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Loss protection coverage is provided solely by extension of Atelier 4's own fine art policy. It does not constitute a separate insurance policy issued to the client.
  • Coverage applies while your property is in the care, custody, and control of Atelier 4 or any third-party service provider coordinated by Atelier 4 on your behalf.
  • Coverage is subject to the terms, conditions, exclusions, limitations, and deductibles of Atelier 4's policy.
  • Clients are solely responsible for determining whether this coverage is sufficient for their needs. Clients are encouraged to maintain additional or separate coverage as they deem appropriate.
  • Atelier 4 is not acting as an insurance carrier, broker, agent, or advisor. Atelier 4 makes no representations regarding the adequacy or suitability of coverage for any particular purpose.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Coverage must be requested and confirmed before Atelier 4 takes possession of your work. It cannot be added after a project has started. Contact us at the time of booking and we'll include coverage options in your estimate.

  • All-Risk is our most comprehensive tier — it covers physical loss or damage during approved handling, transit, and storage. Theft Only covers loss due to theft only, and does not include coverage for accidental physical damage. If you are unsure which tier is right for your project, we recommend All-Risk.

  • A Visual Inspection Report (VIR) is a documented condition assessment of your work performed by Atelier 4 at the time of intake. It establishes the pre-transit condition of the work on record. For All-Risk coverage, a VIR is required both at intake and upon release of the property. An additional fee applies.

  • No. Each work is insured individually at its client-declared value. Block coverage across multiple works is not available. If you have a multi-work project, coverage must be declared for each piece separately.

  • No. This coverage applies only while your work is in Atelier 4's care, custody, and control, and is subject to the terms of our own policy. It is not a standalone insurance policy issued to you. You are encouraged to maintain your own fine art insurance in addition to requesting A4's coverage.

  • In most situations, coverage can be confirmed the same day it is requested. For time-sensitive projects, contact us as early as possible — coverage must be in place before we take possession of your work.
